A Trip to Bled and Bohinj

I have to admit that I don't really go to the mountains, I was always attracted to the seaside, you know, sandy and sun-kissed beaches. Besides, all the tourists always go to Bled and Bohinj and that sort of kills the fun for me. But this time I gave it a shot and I made a little trip with three of my friends up north and I was really surprised at the green and serene countryside, the awe-inspiring mountains that have been here for thousands of years. All in all, if I had to choose a word to describe the beautiful natureI would choose: tranquility.

The picturesque Bled lake with the island in the middle. It's the only lake in Europe with an island.

The island has a church on it and if you make a wish, ring a bell and of course pay 5 euros, your wish will come true;)

My lunch:) at Gostišče Erlah (Eng: the Erlah Inn), I recommend it

This is a typical Slovene dish: ajdovi žganci z ocvirki. The grayish stuff is made of buckwheat flour and mixed with water and cooked, and those golden bits on top are pieces of bacon. Very tasty and filling.

This is the best beef stew I have ever had in my life. Friggin' delicious!

Another really typical Slovene dish, it can be served as a side dish or as a dessert, in my case I wanted a dessert - štruklji. Please don't ask me to translate it. These are made of curdled cheese and walnuts. Yummy!

Then we made a stop at Bohinjska Bistrica. The river was just so beautiful! Like something from Lord of the Rings.

 The Bohinj lake
 A typical Slovene Alpine house.

I am really happy that I went up north to the mountains. The fresh air, the lush greenery, it's so quiet and peaceful, it's so relaxing!

Hope you enjoyed this post,

Take care,
