2012 New Year's Resolution

In 2012, I will:

  • blog more
  • travel more
  • eat less chocolate, but eat more of it anyway, I mean - who am I kidding?!
  • buy a new digital camera and actually use it
  • do more yoga
  • read more novels in German, starting with Rafik Schami's Die dunkle Seite der Liebe
  • read more novels in Slovene, starting with France Bevk's Mali upornik. I simply have to start reading more works from Slovene authors!!!
  • cuss less :P
  • be nicer to myself. That in my world means eating more chocolate.
  • listen more and talk less (it's gonna be a tough one)
  • go on more dates (Tricky. Very tricky.)
  • be more patient with grandpa (which means listening to even more war stories:P)
  • take more time to meet my friends
  • take more time for myself
  • regularly attend my bellydance classes. Even when I don't feel like shaking my booty.

My Latest Obsession: Zara Menswear on Women Fall/Winter 2012

It has come to my attention that lately, while shopping in Zara, I’ve been browsing through men’s accessories more than through women’s. And I even liked some of the pieces more than women’s. So I’ve decided to do a post on accessories for men, which can be used on women as well. I love the idea of mixing and matching ‘male’ and ‘female’ together all in one look. So here it is. My favorite pieces in Zara Menswear Fall/Winter 2012. And yes, I would LOVE to have all the following pieces in my closet:)

The herringbone cap – love the pattern. So chic!
The stockinette stitch hat. Have it:)

The hooded scarf. So cool.

The jacquard pattern collar. I want to have this collar. Asap.

The micro pattern scarf. Again, love the pattern and the color.

The plaited collar. I heart this collar.

The latest trend for fall/winter 2012 is a bow tie for women, as seen on Diane Kruger. One usually wears a bow tie together with a blazer or tux and the whole shebang that goes with it; that’s why it’s very easy for women to overdo it and look too butch. In order to maintain some sort of balance and still be feminine and sexy, it actually all comes down to hair and accessories.

If you decide to wear your hair in a bun, make sure you wear at least one very feminine piece to soften this look. Diane Kruger pulls it off splendidly with a gorgeous clutch and a pair of high heels.

If you decide for a more casual look, wear your hair loose, play with accessories; add a nice shoulder bag, sheer blouse with a bowtie, sexy black shorts with cute buttons on it and a great pair of shoes.

Unisex bowties in Zara:
The polka dot bowtie. Cute!

The checked bowtie.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

A Dangerous Method: Film Review

Yesterday, I went to the Ljubljana Film festival and saw A Dangerous Method, a historical film about Freud and Jung. The film is entertaining and educational and the acting is very impressive. Keira Knightley did a marvelous job portraying a young hysterical patient who during the process of therapy falls for the young charismatic Jung, played by the wonderful Michael Fassbender.

What impressed be more about Knightley’s acting is that she also managed to keep a continuous accent of a Russian Jew throughout the film. As a major cinephile, I’ve noticed that actors sometimes ‘’lose’’ the accent during the film (e.g. Anne Hathaway butchering the British accent in ‘’One Day’’; an American trying to unsuccessfully imitate the British accent is truly the saddest thing in the world) thus making a complete mockery of the role and the character. Luckily, this is not one of those films.

Viggo Mortensen. Need I say more? Very convincing acting, a nice continuous British accent throughout the film and a lovely on-screen charisma. And great make-up. He really, really looked like Freud with that white beard. Nice! I also love the fact that Fassbender and Mortensen starred in the same film. They are my two favorite actors.

David Cronenberg did a marvelous job; the scenery in the film, Switzerland and Austria, is fantastic, I even recognized one of the cafes in Vienna, where I had a Sachertorte;) Cronenberg also managed to answer almost a hundred year old question: what caused the dispute between Freud and Jung? And the answer is: Keira Knightley. The world makes sense again. Bless you Cronenberg for putting so many analytical psychologists at ease. Phew!

Ethnic, ethnic

There is something about ethnic inspired fashion that just makes me think of Summer. When I see a certain ethnic piece, my mind spontaneously takes me to a sandy beach where I am wearing a colorful tunic, flip-flops a huge ethnic tote and a panama hat:) Ethnic stuff is so summery!

I like the intricate patterns, the bold vibrant colors that go great with neutrals... I mean you could be wearing just plain old jeans and a t-shirt and an ethnic bag plus ethnic earrings can make a big difference and make your style more interesting.

My personal favorites are ethnic bags - hence the numerous variety of them on my collage:) and ethnic jewelry; preferably with turquoise semi-precious stones. love 'em!

Take care,

Cafe Lolita

I had a nice walk in the city centre and then I stopped at the Lolita Cafe. I admire the interior design, it's like a mixture of art deco and contemporary. The color palette is also interesting: black, grey and white with little pops of color from the cushions and lamps (pink and apple green, they look like candy. Yum!). I also like that some walls are covered with richly patterned wallpaper and some are left almost bare, which gives the space a little bit of rustic feel.

The whole space is filled with opposites: bare hard walls - patterned soft wallpapers, black cherry lamps - soft colorful cushions, white furniture - colorful ceiling, etc.

The staff have French maid-like uniforms - black with white ruffled aprons:) Tres chic.

So yesterday, I had a scoop of their absolutely delicious peach ice-cream and did a few snapshots of the place. I hope you like it.

It's Friday, Friday, Friday yesterday was Thursday, tomorrow is... Saturday...:D

Inspiration

Hi,

I've wanted to do a post of all the things that are inspiring me for a while now, so here it is:)

Rachel Brice, the best bellydancer in the world!

Frida Kahlo, one of the best painters in the world

I can't stop listening to Clare's debut album.
I love her raspy voice

The Bride:)

Can you say ''yummy''?
The model's name is Rick Mora.

I'd really recommend this book if you're
into sarcastic humor... I read it in like a day.

Stripes and... stripes

The Summer is sort of knocking at my door (''sort of'' because it has been raining non-stop for the past two weeks over here in Ljubljana, grrrr!) and I started thinking about the perfect summer outfits - then it hit me - the striped navy blue and white dress! It's perfect! As I was googling on the net, I sort of widened my search to everything that is striped, really. I just can't get enough of stripes;) And Summer without at least one navy blue and white striped piece in my opinion, is a huge fashion crime:)

A striped T-shirt worn with leather shorts is an interesting
and refreshing combination. Love the mustard colored sandals.

If you have a similar dress like this in your closet,
wear a tiny leather brown belt with it-
it's this season's fashion must-have.

This striped dress sort of speaks for itself,
but you could liven it up with a panama hat,
a really long necklace with a pendant
and a maxi straw bag. The bigger the better.
Size matters:)

Don't be afraid to combine striped pieces with really bright colors,
like Karla on this photo does.

An oversized striped tee worn with jeans is a perfect combination for every occasion.

A striped dress with a scarf and wedges is also a refreshing combination.

An oversized striped cardigan, a red lipstick,
an oversized white dress
and doc martens - only in London:) Love it!
I hope you enjoyed my fashion post - don't be shy to comment;)

Lots of love,

Flowers, flowers, flowers!!!

Ok, I admit - I am crazy about flowers, and as I was browsing the net for inspiration I couldn't stop clicking! And there is one more thing that a girl can never have enough of - a floral dress:)

Asos floral dress

Asos floral dress

Asos floral dress

set on fire and the second one is spilt with nacho dip)

Teja's Favorite Movie Quotes

Hi there,

the following quotes are in my opinion the best quotes ever that make me laugh my head off every time I watch these movies:

‘’I don't want trouble in here. Two things happen to a man in jail. He comes out a killer or he comes out a Christian. Either way, I don't want him in here. ‘’ – Bartender, Dance me Outside

‘’Arnold got arrested, you know. But he got lucky. They charged him with attempted murder. Then they plea-bargained that down to assault with a deadly weapon. Then they plea-bargained that down to being an Indian in the Twentieth Century. Then he got two years in Walla Walla.‘’ -Thomas, Smoke Signals

‘’You're a Ginger, a Jew and from Jersey. Three strikes, Kyle, you're out!’’ – Cartman, Southpark, It’s a Jersey Thing

Forrest Gump: ‘’Lieutenant Dan, what are you doing here?’’
Lieutenant Dan: ‘’I'm here to try out my sea legs.‘’
Forrest Gump: ‘’But you ain't got no legs, Lieutenant Dan.’’ - Forrest Gump

Cop: ‘’Name?’’
Frank: ‘’Frank Fencepost.’’
Cop: ‘’Address?
Frank: ‘’Where do I live?’’
Cop: ‘’Yeah, where do you live?’’
Frank: ‘’I live where the land meets the sky. Where the eagles and the ravens fly free. I live under the sun and the moon.’’
Cop: [to Silas] ‘’Where do you live?’’
Silas: ‘’I'm his neighbor.’’
– Dance me Outside

Juno MacGuff: ‘’Ow, ow, fuckity-ow! Bren, when do I get that spinal tap thing?’’
Bren: ‘’It's called a spinal block. And you can't have it yet, honey. The doctor said you're not dilated enough.’’
Juno MacGuff: ‘’You mean I have to wait for it to get worse? Why can't they just give it to me now?’’
Bren: ‘’Well, honey, doctors are sadists who like to play God and watch lesser people scream...’’
-Juno

Stan: ‘’What the hell are you doing dad?’’
Randy: ‘’I am flying free with my beautiful butterfly wings!’’
Stan: ‘’Did you come here to help me?’’
Randy: ‘’I was gonna but, uh, this is fun!’’
Stan: ‘’Dad, you have to stop Mackey and bring us back to reality!’’
Randy: ‘’Butterflies have no concern for such things, Stan. I'm gonna go find myself some butterfly poon.’’
 - Southpark, Insheeption

Bill: ‘’Pai Mei taught you the five point palm-exploding heart technique?’’
The Bride: ‘’Of course he did.’’
Bill: ‘’Why didn't you tell me?’’
The Bride: ‘’I don't know... because I'm a bad person.’’
Bill: ‘’No. You're not a bad person. You're a terrific person. You're my favorite person, but every once in a while, you can be a real cunt.’’

Hope you enjoyed them:)
