The Christmas Vintage Fair
Whenever
there's a vintage fair organized by VintageVikend in Ljubljana, I get so
excited because I know it’s going to be good! And this one was no exception, I
mean ‘’Christmas’’ and ‘’Vintage’’? These two words I like used together!

Soul Fishing + Zlatarstvo Skušek's International Giveaway! (CLOSED)
These are one of my favorite Slovene designs: the sterling silver ginkgo leaf earrings by Zlatarstvo Skušek. I have them and they are fantastic to wear, they go with everything, they are incredibly light and they don't get easily tarnished. Then I thought: Why not have an international giveaway, I mean Slovene designs are so underrated and some really talented artisans just don't get the recognition they deserve. So I called the girls at Zlatarstvo Skušek and suggested to have a giveaway and they were on board! Yay! I love it when people so open for collaborations!

Shopping and Eating in Dublin
Hey guys, this post
is about one of my favorite activities when I go abroad which are shopping and
eating. I have to admit that I avoided most of the mainstream fashion labels,
such as H&M, Zara, Topshop, etc. because we have them in Slovenia and also
because I am getting fed up with them and was ready to discover something new
and fresh, preferably local.
I
discovered 9 Crow Street completely by accident as I was passing by the shop
windows. Looking back, I think I was drawn by the pretty pastel colors. Upon
entering I fell in love with the eclectic interior design, it’s sort of a
mish-mash of old and new which is also reflected by the goods: they are part
vintage, part brand new. Speaking of which, you should check out the 9 CrowStreet’s label Pretty Owls Drink Tea, it is a kind of homage to unicorns and
mermaids. I mean who doesn’t like unicorns? Or mermaids?

The Ljubljana Fashionistas
The Mission: Find as many fashionistas as possible and photograph them for the blog.
The Instruments: a superspy SONY camera + raybans. I would have brought a panama hat with me, but this post is written by a very forgetful superspy agent.
But here it is - the best from the best, people.

Viva la Vintage
Now that the summer holidays are finally here, I have more time for myself (read: more time for cleaning, washing up and doing the ironing), I've come across some really old photos in our family album. And since it's summertime, I picked the ones that are summer themed, like this one from the summer of '26, almost a hundred years ago. My great-grandmother is on the photo far right:)
I am loving her white summer dress.
I was drawn to this photo because the little girl looks so chic and confident:))
I think she was the daughter of a family's friend
The photo was taken in 1950.
Loving the little white shorts on her.
Mind you, the reason why the lady is giving us the evil eye
would probably be because the sun is in her eyes:)
Loving her white gloves and shoes,
they look like they had little white hearts sewn on them:)
All the clothes you see on these children were handmade.
I've picked this photo because of the cool retro prints
which are totally back in fashion.
I've saved the best for the last: My grandmother in her teens (far left) with her girlfriends.
The photo must have been taken before the WWII.
Loving their summer dresses.
Hope you enjoyed this post,
Love,
Teja xoxo

My Turquoise Summer
Okay, perhaps coffee and nail polish do not mix very
well, but I’ve decided that this particular shade should be besties with coffee
because it’s the *it shade* of the summer. Why coffee, do you ask? Because I
can’t live without itJ
and as it happens, I can’t live without this awesome shade of turquoise Gel
Effect Nail Enamel by Deborah Milano.
Though the advertisement says that ‘’the new gel EFFECT nail
enamels by Deborah Milano imparts mirror-like shine, amazing depth of color,
and a spectacular “plumping” effect with just one coat,'' I would have to respectfully
disagree. The first coat is a bit streaky, so do add another one. After that,
this nail polish does deliver everything that the advertisement says, from the
rich color to perfect coverage to the “gel like” surface – without using UV
light.
I
am really pleased with this particular kind of nail polish and I would definitely
repurchase it – in all shadesJ
As far as summer shades of nail polish are concerned,
the summer of 2014 is all about pale shades of blues and turquoises, pastels
and nudes, a complete opposite of summer 2013, when women had been proudly
displaying their neon talons.
So, neon is out, pastels are in. Don’t believe me?
Check out the L’Oreal Summer 2014 Nail Collection:
Essie is also following the summer trends with
pastels, though with little pops of slightly stronger shades, such as coral red, my
personal favorite.
OPI is avoiding nude tones and is sticking to minks
and different shades of corals (total win, want to have the entire collection!)
Hope you liked this post:)
Don’t forget to like the Deborah Slovenija Facebookpage!

Teja xoxo

A Vintage Saturday
Finally, after months of waiting and really rainy weather, on the first sunny and warm day since forever, the first vintage market of the season has been held in Tabor. Once again, I have to say this, finally! The last vintage market was organized in October for Halloween:S But on the other hand, there is something special about browsing for a bargain on a sunny day in the summer:) The only thing I really missed about this Vintage Saturday was free Cockta, which is a kind of Slovene Coca-cola:) It would add that special touch of the old days in Yugoslavia, when Slovenia was virtually untouched by the West.

Spring Inspired
During the photoshoot, the light was just superb and the photos were taken with the sun in the background, contrary to the popular belief, that a person should be facing sun. Well, I wasn't. And I think that the result of the photos was just amazing. I didn't use any camera filters, all the light you see on the photos is just natural sunlight:)

Raybans-Wayfarers
Vintage necklaces
Petit Bateau Sweatshirt
Vintage Belt - MojeTvoje
Tights - Calzedonia
Booties-Zara

Let's Party Like It's 1925!
The best parties are the old school parties, I always say, and in the spirit of the Carnival that had taken place in Slovenia this Tuesday, I've decided to blog about this vintage photo I had found in our family album. Isn't it amazing? The photo is from 1925 and it had been taken in the South of Italy.
The first thing that had caught my eye is the ornate decorations on the costumes as the party theme was 1001 Nights, so everything had to be extra sparkly. I love the pailletted jacket on the man sitting in the middle, I would love to get my hands on it! You know, anything with paillettes, feathers and pearls and I'm on board:) His feathery turban is also really cool but the butterfly costume is a total win, considering the fact that it was handmade. I am guessing that all these costumes were pretty much handmade, which is quite rare nowadays with all the ''Made in China'' plastic costumes that are being sold in the shops.
This photo honestly makes me want to jump into the picture and party along with these guys... or girls, because to be perfectly honest, I am not sure who is who. It's still and amazing photo and I love it, hope you like it to:)
Love,
Teja xoxo

How to Dress like a Hipster
''O-kay,'' you say: ''But I still don't get it. I mean, I'm not even sure if I know what a hipster looks like.''
2. Get a Clark Kent glasses with thick black rims. The geekier, the better. If you're a girl, finish off the look with a bright red lipstick and if you're a guy, grow a mustache.
3. Own a smartphone and instagram everything you see and then spend 15 minutes choosing one filter per photo.
4. Start smoking.
5. Wear skinny jeans.
6. Wear brogues with your skinny jeans.
7. Wear a really rich faux fur coat, the kind that Macklemore wore in the Thrift Shop video.
8. Wear a headphone around your neck like a necklace.
9. Wear lots and lots of ethnic stackable bracelets, combining vintage ones with the three-dollar ones you got at the H&M.
10. Guys, wear a bow tie and suspenders. At all times.
11. Girls, wear a vintage dress with a bib collar. With your brogues and with your faux fur coat. At all times.
12. As far as hipster patterns are concerned, the top three would have to be polka dots, hound's tooth and plaid. You can't go wrong with them.
13. Get a beanie. And wear it every day, even if it the weather is hot.
14. Guys, wear a bowtie.
15. Girls, wear a bowtie.
While I was doing my research, I found this table that I found pretty funny; it's a comparison between hipsters and old people and they're kinda right:)
I have used all these photos as a moodboard when I was creating a hipster look for the Carnival that we are having in Slovenia this weekend and this is the finished look, with all the hipster elements:
1. a beanie
2. a red lipstick
3. wayfarers
4. a sleeveless blouse buttoned up to the top with a chunky necklace
5. stackable bracelets featuring almost every bracelet I have ever owned, from 1920s, 1980s and 1990s.
6. stackable rings
7. skinny jeans
8.brogues (not shown on the photo)

Teja xoxo
